About the Library
All Marianjoy staff, physicians, and residents are entitled to borrow materials from the library. An online record is created by the library staff for all library users. You are responsible for materials checked out on your library account.
Check-out periods, Limits, and Renewals
Books from the general collection can be checked out for two weeks and audiovisuals for one week. Renewals are permitted unless otherwise stated. Materials which have been requested by another user may not be renewed. Availability status appears in the Library catalog and is clearly marked on each item.
If you cannot find an item listed as "available", check with the library staff. They will look for the item; if the item cannot be found they may be able to substitute other materials or find the item in another library.
Borrowing from Other Libraries
The library has agreement with other libraries to borrow materials not available in your library through Interlibrary loan. Interlibrary loan check-out periods and renewals are at the discretion of the lending library.
Students and Interns
Students and interns from the affiliated institutions are welcome to use the Medical Library during regular library hours. Library materials cannot be checked out by students or interns. However, Marianjoy staff members may check out library materials for them.
Patients and Family Members
Patients and family members are welcome to use the Medical Library during regular library hours. Consumer health information will be provided by the library staff to the patients and family members. Responsibility for the circulation of library materials will be assumed by the Marianjoy staff.
Community members are welcome to use the Medical Library during regular library hours. However, they need to contact and make an appointment in advance by calling the library staff.
